January 2

On my to do list, was to make this book hammock for Sophie. I finally finished it today and love how it turned out. Sophie was pretty excited about it too! I hope it doesn't cause problems (like midnight reading), but I suppose there could be worse things!

We brought the new year in with zero excitement, but a lot of fun playing with new toys! I had picked up a new winter hat for Sophie at REI yesterday, and noticed that it appeared on her head during naptime! So cute, but I bet she was warm under there!

Mom and I took Sophie up north for some shopping at Ikea. I had wanted to get Sophie these cute flower lights for the longest time, and they finally had them in stock! As soon as I got home, I got them installed on Sophie's wall and they look great (if I do say so myself!).

Karen and Will joined us for a trip to Zoolights up at Pt. Defiance Zoo. As usual, the lights were amazing, and they had even done more than last year! It was cold and the kids were squirrely, but we had a great time!

Karen had told me about this amazing light display that is in Tumwater, and Sophie and I checked it out tonight. She was right, it was spectacular! You get out of your car and essentially walk through this person's backyard and deck area to enjoy their handiwork! We'll definitely come back next year!

Christmas Day! I hardly slept last night in anticipation of Sophie's excitement! I woke up a few minutes before her, and had the pleasure of hearing her say, "Yes!" when she saw her Santa gifts. She was most excited about the cash register, and started playing with it right away. She loved all of her gifts and we had a wonderful day!

It's Christmas Eve! Sophie put out reindeer food and had a great time doing it! After a wonderful Christmas Eve service at church, we set out milk and cookies for Santa and enjoyed some Christmas books. Sophie was so excited about tomorrow, but she fell asleep easily!

December 22

Gramma and I took Sophie for her annual visit to Santa to get her picture taken. Since the season had begun, Sophie wasn't too sure about getting close to Santa, but she was definitely excited about him. I thought he'd won her over with the pajama party earlier this month, but once we got up there, she wanted nothing to do with him. She was happy to talk to him, but didn't want to get close at all. Santa and the Elves tried to work their magic to get her closer, but this was the best we could do! I still think it turned out mighty cute!
