June 27

Today was another nice day, so Sophie spent more time in her pool. She enjoyed dumping water in and out of containers and filling them up with the hose. It's amazing how much fun water can be!

June 26

Sophie and I went down to Capital Lake and walked around before I went for a run. She enjoyed looking for the ducks and pointing out "Daddy's wapital." He doesn't exactly work in the Capital building, but she loves to point it out!

June 25

Sophie's daycare had a luau and going away party for Sophie. Her last day will be next week, but we're taking the summer off and will start in a new place in the fall. It's time for a change. I enjoyed watching Sophie play with her friends outside! She is pictured her with Phoebe and Carter.

June 24

It's been warm the last few days, and I've finally had to turn the air conditioner back on! Thank goodness that I can have one cool room in the house!

June 23

Last day of school... hurray!! I neglected to bring my camera outside while the buses were rolling away, but that's the picture I wanted! I have never been so happy to see this challenging year go away!

June 22

I took so many picture today, but I chose two of the "best." I noticed that the nest in my umbrella outside now has three extra inhabitants! The baby robins have been born and are there making little noises for their mama to feed them. So cute! Also, my little munchkin posed for a great number of pictures after getting her face painted for the first time. We were at Huntamer Park for their Tuesday night events and Sophie was adamant that she wanted a blue snail on her face! She got it and stayed very still while getting her face painted. It's amazing what a few months can do to change her bravery!

June 21

I know this is an odd picture to post, but I just love the face on my colleague, Rick! I asked him to pose with a funny face to add to my student's end of the year slideshow. He willingly obliged with a great funny face!

June 20

Sophie and I have been able to enjoy the green peas we have been waiting for for so long! She especially loves them and usually eats the whole load, leaving one or two for me! I guess I shouldn't complain, she loves her veggies!

June 19

It was a dreary day, but we got out inbetween downpours and headed to Tolmie State Park. Sophie and I explored the beach, searching for crabs and tossing rocks into the water.

June 18

This afternoon was warm enough that Sophie wanted to play outside in the pool and in her bathing suit. The water is freezing, but she could care less! She likes to slide down her little slide into the water, making big splashes. It's nice that she can explore around the yard in bare feet. I miss my dog sometimes, but I really like not having to avoid dog piles.

June 17

Today, I woke up with normal eyes, but about a half hour later I moved my contact and scratched the cornea in two places. Man oh man, that's a lot of pain and crying! I spent the rest of the day in glasses and luckily got into the eye doctor at the end of the day. I will be medicated for a few more days and in glasses... my favorite! This picture kind of reminds me of the whole Lost beginning and ending... sigh!

June 16

My favorite rose bush is back in bloom again! I love this lavender color...

June 15

We took the students on a field trip today to Ft. Nisqually in Tacoma. Us adults thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the kids liked it too, but it was boring for them in parts. There was a lot of information and we have a very squirrely group! I took advantage of the beautiful view of the Narrows Bridge before we hopped on the bus back.

June 14

It was a little too chilly for another romp in the pool, so Sophie settled for taking a bath in her swimsuit! I have a feeling that this may be her outfit of choice for the next few months! Here's hoping for good weather!

June 13

We spent most of today enjoying the sunshine. It wasn't as beautiful as yesterday, but it didn't stop Sophie from playing in her pool. She is much more brave this year than last, playing in very cold water! It was so fun to watch her enjoying herself!

June 12

Today was beautiful! I spent a lot of time outdoors as well as working on report cards. Fun interspersed with ugh!

June 11

I took Sophie to see the second graders performance of "Bugz" tonight. She loved watching it, even though we sat far away and she couldn't see much. At the end of the show, we met up with the Tuttles and Becky Lee with their kids. The girls danced on stage and it was the cutest thing! I got an amazing video of these adorable ladies!

June 9

This little mama bird was very unhappy with me tonight. Now that she has eggs in her nest, she (and dad made an appearance this afternoon too) is super protective. She squawks at me from the neighboring tree and even dive bombed me a couple of times. I guess my outside time will be limited for the next few weeks until the babies are born and then leave the nest.

June 8

I totally lucked out and got Sophie a free bike! I had planned on garage saleing for one this summer to give her for her 3rd birthday, but Tina Schmidt was giving her daughter's away! It is in great condition, is pink, has training wheels, and has Barbie on it. I am sure that Sophie will love it!

June 7

My old friend Jason Snuggs came back home for a visit with his lovely wife Christine and their adorable 8 month old daughter, Elizabeth. Sophie and I met them for dinner at Tugboat Annie's and it was so nice catching up. Sophie was a bit on the busy side, so the conversation was limited, but it was fun nonetheless. She certainly enjoyed showing off for everyone!

June 6

I love this picture of Sophie, mid song while banging on her little xylophone! She sure is a music lover and was making up song after song tonight!

June 5

After 3 hours of hard work in my garden, my feet were needing a break! I treated myself (with my mom's gift certificate that she didn't want) to a spa pedicure. I think I haven't had one since before Sophie was born and it was wonderful! When Sophie spotted my purple toes she said, "What is that?" and then asked if she could have them too! She loves to copy mommy, so I guess I'll be picking up some nail polish at the store!

June 4

We had a fun, busy evening watching Cinderella for the first time with Will and Karen. The kids had a blast playing together until they didn't. It all came crashing down when Soph had enough of sharing her toys and they were both tired. After they left, Grandma Sue came by for a quick visit and snapped a few pictures of us while I read to Sophie in bed. It's always nice to be on the other side of the camera so I actually have a few pictures of Sophie and I together!

June 3

"Look at my teeth," Sophie says! It was Sophie's 3rd visit to Dr. Davidson, but she still freaked out as usual. She cried the whole time the dentist was looking at her teeth, but was happy as a clam as soon as she got her toothbrush, sticker, and treat. I still say they should give her those things to begin with and maybe she'll be better! She got a clean bill of health and we'll try again in 6 months.

June 2

My little girl was a bundle of energy by the time we got home tonight! She wanted to play, play, play even though it was bedtime. I just loved this look on her face as she was trying to distract me from getting her into bed!

June 1

My little one thought that we should bring in June a little on the early side... 5 AM to be exact! She laid in bed crying for quite awhile and I wasn't ready to get up just yet. Now that she's in a big girl bed I thought I'd try out something. I called down to her to come into mommy's room. After a few minutes, she toddled in and climbed in bed with me. We both closed our eyes and before long, she was snoring! I didn't fall back asleep, but rested until it was time to get up. Sophie slept through me taking a shower, getting ready, and moving all around. I finally woke her up at 7 so we could officially start our day! Her face is a bit blurry, but oh so sweet.
